Mental Health Support for a Teenaged Daughter in Toronto, ON

A 211 caller said she was a single parent to a daughter in her early teens who had anxiety and an eating disorder; her behaviours worsened since her father had passed away. The mother stated she was seeking residential care for her daughter. She said she struggled to know what to do as she was alone, and was afraid to impact her daughter’s eating disorder.

The Service Navigator empathized with the caller and offered a listening ear while the caller expressed her concerns and frustration. The Navigator reassured the caller that there was help and reminded her that there were support options in the community. He referred the caller to the Hospital for Sick Children, Youthdale Treatment Centres and the George Hull Centre for Children and Families. The caller said she would call the agencies and would call 211 back if she needed more assistance.
