211 coming to Prince Edward Island

As part of Prince Edward Island’s (PEI’s) new Poverty Reduction Action Plan, United Way Prince Edward Island and the provincial government will implement 211 service collaboratively.

The effort to bring 211 to PEI started in 2013 with an initial investment by Great-West Life. While those early efforts didn’t yield immediate results, the seed was firmly planted. When the provincial government launched the process to create the Poverty Reduction Action Plan, United Way PEI and its partners responded quickly to rework and update the 211 implementation plan created previously.

The focus now shifts to building the database of programs and community resources needed to deliver 211. Fortunately, PEI will be able to leverage elements of the infrastructure that already provides three-quarters of Canadians with access to 211.
